When considering a compact fluorescent as a grow light - for instance, is a 100watt cfl actually using 100 watts? Or is it really a 100 watt replacement and actually using only 23-25 watts?

It will only use about 20 watts or so.... they just post the equivalent output wattage so you can compare against other lights.....
