Probiotics is a general term meaning "Live microorganisms" that are beneficial to the human when used within the gastrointestinal system to promote better absorption of minerals and resulting in a more balanced amount and diversification of beneficial microorganisms and a decrease in microorganisms that could be harmful or lessen the most advantageous processing of nutrients.

When used in an organic way with plants, it would have to be restricted to those microorganisms that are indeed beneficial to plants and their uptake of nutrients. That may not be synonymous with those that are beneficial to humans in the gastrointestinal tract.

Composting is the best way to promote beneficial microorganisms in soil. A properly maintained compost stack will create a huge amount of beneficial microorganisms that, when added to an existing garden or to prepare a garden for it's first planting will greatly enhance the soil and hugely assist the plants in growing to their maximum size, health and containing the maximum amount of healthy byproducts like fiber and vitamins.

Be careful when adding Probiotics to your garden. Some are just for humans and do nothing for plants.

Tibicos, also known as tibi, water kefir grains, sugar kefir grains, Japanese water crystals and California Bees is also an additive for humans and intended for human consumption.

Like Probiotics, it's best to create the beneficial microorganisms through the development of a quality compost stack. Then you get natural, plant benefiting organisms, not something intended for use inside the human body.
