The totes are 8 gallons each and the
nutrient level all said and done will be at about 5.8 gallons. The volume was of concern for the very reasons you stated (stability/temperature).
The air
pump and stones I will use are all large capacity. I had the pump on hand from a large fish tank.
Now to get the holes cut..........
