keep them alive

today is day 3, 3 days ago my wife brought home what she said was new growth on a rose bush, for 3 days(thursday is #3) they have been in a mixture of perlite/vermiculite there is some visable changes on the 8 rose bush samples all shown continued growth, now to see how long i can keep them alive. how long until i should start them on drip irrigation, never having done anything with roses before this is all new to me.
