Default cool white fluorescent

Rob from Boston, MA
I have just completed Ron's 11 plant garden. I am getting ready to transplant the seedlings
into the system today.
My biggest concern is my lighting. I have cool white fluorescent with 2 150
watt incandescent grow lights shining down. Unfortunately, sunlight is a little hard to come by around here this time of year. Any
ideas on some cheap lighting?
The metal halides and sodium's are out of my budget range.
In the old MSN Forum there was a woman named Kathy who said she had some success with cheap grow lights - any
thoughts?

Default Cheap Lights

Check out the discussion on Hydroponica.blogspot.com GE makes a 6500k, 100w (26-actual watt) cfl. 4 of these is (actually better) than the commercial 105w CFL lights (you will get better effieciency and lumens out of the 4). They will run you about 2-bucks per bulb.

Default cheap lighting solutions

i bought a mh light 400 w for $30 at the local hydro shop then bought a 400w multi tap warehouse light ballast from craigslist for $30 - i then wired in an extension cord to the ballast and thats it, total cost with cord about $65 bucks, very inexpensive compared to the true " grow light" but it works the same, it has been in use for a few months now and no problems to report.
