Default watering for 24 hours a day

I made my own hydro-system.The nutrients flow from a rubber-maid container into two pots filled
with that white volcanic growing medium. I'm growing jalopeno peppers in one pot and the other dill
and cilantro. Should I set the watering for 24 hours a day or intermittent waterings. It seems the
water flows right threw the grow rocks to the reservoir. The plants seem to be doing fine but I was
wondering if watering them longer would increase growth. I'm using a 250 watt hps about a foot
and a half away from them.
Thanks
