1-1.5 gallon tank isn't going to work for a ebb and flow Ron's Type system.
You need to figure out how much fluid your bottles will hold, and allow at least another couple of inches in your resevior for the pump to hand onto while it's overflowing back into your resivior.
You can always go larger, and have more then neccisary. I use a 15 gallon resivior and have 7 gallons of nutrients in it. I check my Nutrient strength level every other day to make sure it doesn't get to strong and create Nutrietn burn, and also, I change out my nutrients every 2-3 weeks.
