Hello, does anyone out there know much about growing strawberries hydroponicly. I live in Taiwan and its hot and humid most of the time. I know the plant likes cool temperatures and have read that you can cool the nutrient solution, and use shadecloth with fans to reduce air temps. Is there any problem with nutrients at 60 or 65 and air temps at 80. If you have any information, I would appreciate it. Its especially hard to find much information on hydroponics in tropical places. Thank you. Jack

I have an 11-plant system and its working just fine. one bottle in this system is a 3-liter bottle. In this system all my tees are threaded. Now to accommodate the 3-liter bottle you will have to use a 1 inch to 1.5 inch reducer or fitting. The fitting screwed into the 1 inch threaded tees and the large 3-liter cup fits perfectly into the 1.5 section of the fitting.Hope this will help someone out there. Tony

Hi Ron , I have a Hydranga bush that is enormous but it doesn't bloom. Got any ideas, what is wrong ?

Some plants are forced to bloom by the number of dark hours they receive over a number of 24 hour days..

I e-mailed the guy and told him he was going to be visited by online members, even in Quebec. I got loyal members everywhere. He claims he was only selling the link to my pictures.

I am a South African who would like to establish a commercial hyroponics operation. I have absolutely no experience in hydroponics, but strongly believe that it is the way to go in SA, particularly as we do not have a lot of arable land. please advise on I should go about establishing a commercial hydroponics operation, in terms of costs, requirements, crops, etc.

Thanks MN

Ron, I want to do a hydroponic study with my school. Could the 11 plant system work in a classroom or do we need to build a greenhouse? Do you know of anyone willing to donate a system to my school--Calvary Baptist School, New Orleans, La.

Can you grown lettuces and tomatoes in the same trough or do they different fertilizer requirements?

Lettuce is a low nutrient plant and tomato is a high user of fertilizer. You might have a problem.

a cheap and easy way to start seeds is to take a 1 or 2oz plastic bathroom cup(the kind u use to put mouth wash in), put a hole in the bottom, shread sum newspaper, wet it, put in the cup, drop in a couple of seeds, add a thin layer of shreaded newspaper on top and water everyday with a diluted hydroponic nutrient solution(maybe 1/4 tsp per gallon), put in a tray in warm place that gets sum sun or under a grow light...hope someone can use this,

Yes you can.  I do.  But for optimum growth you should use fertilizer formulated to what you are growing..

Is this new product the Masquito Magnet worth checking out - it releases co2 to attract masquitos - kinda interesting, would it work for plant growth?

my guess would be that it's an co2 generator with a bug zapper attached to kill the mosquito when they come close.  Get rid of the bug zapper and keep the generator it might work.

Dont Buy seeds from The pukka seed company. THEY LIE about seed flowering periods to make there product look irresistable, when infact some of the plants finish flowering two weeks later then they claim. Also there seeds are as much as 40% more expensive.

G'day from sunny Queensland!

I just wanted to drop a quick word to Ron to praise him not only for an excellent on-going tutorial in hydroponic gardening in text and pictures, but for the fantastic work he's done in educating the masses on this wonderful (and addictive!!) hobby.

I've been gardening for a couple of months now, using principles that Ron has displayed on the pages here, as well as other ideas I've gleaned over the internet.

All in all, I keep coming back, Ron... yours is definitely the best of sites! Please keep up the good work.

Dear Ron, Thanks for a great site, I really has helped me with various questions. =) I have a Hydroponics Waterfarm and a drip system using a aquarium pump (aerophonic?). My plants are in Grodan Rockwool and planted in legga. Can I leave the drip system om 24/7 or how often?

Regards Dan from Denmark, Europe

That might be to much for rockwool. Rockwool stays wet longer than grow rocks so you might have a root rot problem.
