The artist is EasternShoshone tribal member Ray Nichols (deceased). Ray was a member ofthe reservation artisan collective, who displayed and sold their work together(Wind River Native Crafts Collective). Beadwork and embroidery areintegral to the Shoshone-Bannock way of life, as are horsemanship, hunting, thefamily dog, storytelling & the closeness of theextended family.
