Here are lot of 23 large antique monogram stencils:
Dated: 1900 AV -BU - CU - DA - DP - DV - DZ - FA - FD- FJ
FO - FP - FU - FV - GD - GZ - HC - HU - JU - LD
LN - MO - SU = 23 / Stencils Made of copper . They are from Europe.Not polished.
They are unused, but a few stencils have spots.
They are in excellent condition,Size each stencil measures: 5 \" by 5 \"outside edge of stencil.
Young European women and housewives received pillowcases , shams , sheets , tableclothes, napkins , nightdresses , linens and other laundries from their family and kinship. The monogam stencil was placed in position atop the fabric to be embroidered and a blue powdered ink was brushed or dabbed over the monogram to mark the fabric. The blue powder can often be seen on old pieces that have not been laundered.
