This was my great-aunt Chloe\'s doll. She was a collector and made most of own doll clothes,
however, she did not make this doll. Reportedly, this doll was made by a family member for her teenage son,
who adored Dickens\'s \"David Copperfield\". This fictional character is Mr. Wilkins Micawber,
who Dickensmodeledafter his own father, who like Micawber, was incarcerated in debtors\' prison.
This doll depicts the tattered (clothing) long suffering of Micawber before he exposes the corrupt Uriah Heep.
The Micawber character was the inspiration for W.C. Fields and the 1800\'s cartoon Ally Sloper.
This antique doll has no visible markings that I can find; it is all bisque and stands 4\" tall, 4-1/2 with hat;
the jacket, vest, pants, bowtie, button, hat and shoes, are all made from unfinished cloth to depict a ragged look;
the face and hair are hand-painted. The doll is in very good condition considering its age with all the fingers and toes,
no cracks, crazing orodors,and from a smoke-free environment ...see all photos for your assessment.
