This all solid-wood mandolin was custom made in the USA by The Big Muddy Mandolin Co. (formerly known as Mid-Missouri). The ebony fretboard plays very smoothly, the mahogany top gives the instrument warmth and the rosewood back and sides provides volume and richness. The wood combination is also very pleasing to the eye (especially when accompanied by brass Golden Age tuners with black knobs).

The strings are new and the instrument is in pristine condition -- absolutely no scratches or dents and no \"rubbing spots\" on the body. Even though this mandolin is beautiful in looks and sound, I’m selling it because I’ve been spreading myself too thin instrument-wise. From now on, I’ll focus solely on improving my fiddling skills.

PLEASE NOTE: there are a few small, faint marks on the back of the body which can be seen in the very last photo. The spots may have been there when I initially received the mandolin from Big Muddy, but I’m not sure. I’ve polished the wood using the product that BM recommended on their web site (big muddy mandolin dot com) and this may have caused the marks to become more pronounced (or it could be that I simply did a poor job of polishing). I don’t want to make things worse by trying to get rid of them, so I’m just leaving the instrument as it is.

The mandolin comes with a custom fitted hard shell case (arch top … with a key, should you desire to lock it).
