This stunning segregated 10 acre unpatented placer gold mining claim on the rich gold-bearing Crooked River, is located in Boise County, Idaho, just north of Idaho City (or 55 miles northeast of Boise). Township 7N, Range 8E, Section 06, SE Quarter Section. A segregation of claim No. IMC200592.
The claim is located on a beautiful portion of the Crooked River. The river a mile downstream of this area was mined by the old timers and tailings are present (which are also excellent for detecting). The old operations were not efficient, losing as much as 20% to 70% of the gold. So to make working an area profitable the area needed to have very rich gold-bearing gravels, such as this river bed. Due to the area of this claim being narrower through the mountains the old timers could not get their large commercial dredging operation into it leaving this portion of the river virtually untouched.

The claim is nestled in the mountains with easy road access in a region rich in gold production history. I have sampled the claim and found gold evident in the gravels. US Forestry Service and open camp sites are located along theriver with good road access running parallel to the river, accessible to motor homes and trailers. The nearest camping is located approximately less than a half mile from the claim and a well equipped US Forestry Service campground is about a mile away.

GETTING TO THE PROPERTY IS EASY!
Vehicle access to the claim is via a hard-pack dirt road which you can drive virtually up to the riverside. I've seen cars access the area as it is a maintained forest service road. The claim is located 22 miles outside the historic town of Idaho City. Driving directions to the claim: from Boise, travel north on HWY 21 to approximately 18.1 miles past Idaho City to the Jackson Peak Lookout turnout (Edna Creek Campground is at this junction). Head east on Crooked River Road (NF 312) for approximately 5.5 miles to the claim. If you reach the US Forestry Service campground at Willow Creek you have gone too far. For those interested in visiting the claim, I would ask that you use a pan or high-banker only to sample the material, in order to maintain the natural integrity of the site. Signage is posted clearly identifying the claim along the roadside.
