Here is a 1600\'s Spanish pike head from the fort Castillo De Marco guarding St. Augustine, Florida that was excavated from the ruins of the Confederate armory in Milledgeville, Georgia. This pike head is one of five dozen 1600\'s Spanish pike heads that were found in the fort Castillo De Marco in 1861 by the Confederate Milton Florida Artillery unit when it took over the fort. The pike heads were sent to the Confederate armory in Milledgeville, Georgia to be issued to Georgia soldiers. Most were never issued and were in the armory when it was destroyed by Union troops during General Sherman\'s infamous \"march to the sea\" campaign in November-December 1864. Several of the pike heads were found at the site of the Battle of Griswaldville, GA fought on November 22, 1864. This pike head is 13-3/4 inches long. I bought this pike head from a known militaria dealer in December 2012 that specializes mostly in Revolutionary War through Civil War militaria artifacts.
