1860's CIVIL WAR NAVAL RELIC WOOD FROM THE USS HARTFORD FARRAGUT'S FLAGSHIP:
$316

Very Rare, 1862 Civil War, United States Navy Relic being a large piece of wood taken from the US Navy Civil War Sloop-Of-War “USS Hartford" - a Ship that participated in numerous Civil war naval battles and the Flag Ship of the fleet under the command of Admiral David Farragut which captured New Orleans in 1862.

This important US Naval / Civil War Relic is from the collection of Historical Relics assembled during the 19th century by John S. Reigart. The Relic offered here is a piece of hardwood measuring approx. 3 5/8" long, 5/8” wide and 3/16" thick. Affixed to one side of the wood block is a 19th century paper label with text written in the hand of John Reigart that reads “Farragut's Flag Ship / The U. S. Frigate / The Hartford”.

During the mid and late 19th century John S. Reigart assembled possibly the largest and most comprehensive collections of American Historical Relics from every period of this Country's history. Reigart meticulously cataloged and labeled the thousands of historical relics that he collected. During the past few years, a number of relics from the Reigart Collection have been made available to collectors and we have been lucky enough to acquire a small group of relics from the collection which we will be offering in our weekly sales over the next few weeks. This wood and iron bolt Relic from the USS Brooklyn is from this group.

This wonderful, USS Hartford, Wood Relic is very attractive and in excellent condition. The Relic - a small piece of live oak - is sound and intact and retains its original, rich and warm surface patina. Overall this is a very attractive and simply outstanding Relic of an important Civil War Navy Vessel from the collection of John S. Reigart!!!

Please Note: This wonderful Relic is unconditionally guaranteed to be original - acquired from the Ship by Reigart and later deaccessioned from the John S. Reigart Collection of Historical American Relics. The Relic will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity attesting to the fact that it is from the Reigart Collection and stating our lifetime guarantee of Authenticity!!!

This wonderful wood Relic made of wood taken from the USS Hartford is sold here, as always, without reserve and with the confidence that it will attract the serious attention that it justly deserves!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges and the "Detailed Seller Rating" Star System:

The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee.

We have NEVER requested response from our customers as we were taught that "fishing for compliments" was impolite but the new Detailed Rating System has put us in a rather tight spot. Most buyers are unaware that bases a monthly fee discount on a Seller's "Star" rating. A monthly average of "4.6 Stars" (in any one of the four "Star" categories) costs us approximately $400 in additional Fees - that's $400 above what we would pay if we had a "4.8 Star" average in all 4 "Star" categories!! As a consequence we hope you do not find us rude to ask that if you are happy with our items, our service, and our packing & shipping please be sure to use the "Star" rating system and remember that a "5 Star" rating is the only way we can qualify for 's fee reduction program. ,
