Rare and charming, 1916 Tin Lithographed Advertising Serving Tray for Fritz\'s Ice Cream (believed to have been manufactured in Duluth, Minnesota) featuring a fantastic image of beautiful young mother and her two children thoroughly enjoying their Ice Cream. This very attractive, Ice Cream / Dairy, Advertising Serving Tray measures approx. 13 1/2\" in diameter and is copyright 1916 by the manufacturer - Kaufmann & Strauss Co. of New York City.
The Tray features a central image of a young mother seated between her two children at a table. The little boy at the left is enjoying a very early style Ice Cream Cone while the mother and the little girl at the right are eating from dishes of Ice Cream. All appear to be having a wonderful time. The raised rim of the Tray features a wonderful Art Nouveau design and text that reads “Fritz’s” at the top and \"Ice Cream\" at the bottom. Text on the left and right hand side of the raised rim reads \"Pure\" and \"Healthful\".
This wonderful 1916 Fritz\'s Ice Cream Advertising Serving Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original Tin Lithograph Serving Tray manufactured in the early 20th century to promote the sale of Fritz’s Ice Cream.
This outstanding, 1916 Advertising Ice Cream Serving Tray displays in very good condition - the lithography is bright and vibrant and the Tray displays beautifully. While the Image is very clean with no visible surface scratches, surface loss or scuffing the Tray has had a few scattered and tiny spots of professional surface restoration. When the Tray is held at an acute angle to a light source, some very light surface scratches and the Tray does have some minor denting along the edge of the image area from about 9 o\'clock to 10:30. There are a number of tiny surface nicks to the raised rim area and nicks to the outer edge of the rim. The surface is sound and stable and features an attractive surface sheen which is likely the result of a very expert, light, professional clear coat. The back of the Tray has some light wear. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the condition of this wonderful, early 20th century Ice Cream Advertising Tray.
