An interesting vintage"Eugene the Jeep" / " Lucky Jeep" Popeye character stuffed fabric/plush toy, dating from the early to mid 20th century.
Itis printed on the base of the feet, most of it is very hard to read but what I can make out is " Lucky Jeep" Reg Trade Mark, Produced.............. There is more on the other foot but sadly it is illegable.
It has light blue glass eyes, a patterned back, a ribbon and bell around its neck and is wire framed with posable arms and legs.
It measures approx 7" high.
The tail has a small hole revealing the wire, there isa small hole and thinning fabric at the front and there are some small stitches put in on the back seam, otherwise in pretty good antique condition considering its age.
This interesting piece of animation history would make a great addition to any Popeyeor army / jeepcollection as I think it was used as an army mascot in the war and is one of the possible origins of the word jeep.
