For sale is a very nice playing vintage Conn Victor 80A cornet manufactured in 1935. I bought it from the third owner, and was told that the second owner bought it in 1952 to play awhile in school then put it away for many years.
The cornet is in very good used condition. Original lacquer is about 90%, most of the wear being in the usual areas around the valve block. There are a few minor dings and scratches on the horn. There are a couple of dings toward the bottom of the second valve case near the \"Patented\" stamp. The bottom cap on the second valve casing a bit sticky when removing.
Valves are smooth as silk and compression is excellent.
A previous owner had a technician repair and straighten the opera tuning slide, and replaced the second valve slide that was dented. It was replaced with a later Victor slide which has the factory protective patch and a nickel-plated pull knob. I also had the cornet cleaned and checked. Everything works as it should. All the slides pull smoothly along with the tuning slide.
The horn plays very well with a big, fat, open sound. The B-flat to A key change mechanism works well and is a good vintage feature of these unique horns.
I am including a vintage Conn \"E-Z Tone\" short-shank mouthpiece. No case is included. It will be packaged very well and shipped properly in a sturdy box with lots of protection.
