Printed in Mexico, circa 1940's, measures8 1/2x10 3/4inches,excellent condition. Awesome one of a kind image has bright, vivid colors. Printed for the Latin American calendar market carefully stored for the past 60+ years! Mexican calendar art is rare/ hard to find since most was destroyed after the calendar companies went out of business.
Drechsler was a German painter who went to Mexico City in the 1920's. In a short time he acquired the prestige of a portrait painter and illustrator. Drechsler worked for almost all of the lithographic companies between the 30's and the 50's. In the 50's Drechsler left almanac work to concentrate on commissioned portraits, it was popular for the bourgeoisie and artists from the entertainment world to have in their living rooms a portrait with Drechsler's signature. Drechsler's style was often compared to Rolf Armstrong. His stunning images for the Latin American pin up market rivaled the early Deco girls of Rolf Armstrong.
