OLD DISTRESSED MILITARY FOOTLOCKER WITH REMOVABLE TRAY & LINED WITH 1940s MAGAZINE ADSHere is a circa 1930s-1940s steamer trunk which in all likelihood served as a WWII soldier\'s footlocker like so many of these trunks did. It has lots of vintage patina and is the perfect size for use as a coffee table, side table or for stacking vintage luggage. It measures 31\" X 18\" X 11.5\" and is constructed out of wood with vulcanized fibre covering on the exterior. The exterior is charcoal gray with olive drab green corner guards brass-tone hardware. This trunk has one locking latch (has working lock with two keys included as well as and additional flip latch. There are two leather--one center latch and one on an end. The interior has been covered with original 1940s magazine ads (many of them WWII related). The ads were glued in place and we added a clear sealer to better preserve them. There is a 3\" deep removable tray that as well. The tray looks like it came from a different trunk but fits nicely. The lid stands vertical when open.CONDITION:
As mentioned above this old trunk has a nice vintage patina of distressing from years of use and storage but it is still structurally sound with no dents or major damage. The exterior has lots of fading, scuffs, scratches, stains and nicks to the vulcanized fibre covering. Also there is rust/pitting on the metal hardware. The center leather handle is distressed and was split in half when we found this trunk. We glued it back together but would not recommend using it to transport the trunk. The leather handle on the end is a replacement to the original but is securely in position. We tested the locking latch and it works. As mentioned above the interior has been lined with vintage magazine ads which are glued and sealed. The magazine ads have bright graphics but some small nicks, wrinkles and small tears. The tray has its original patterned paper covering. The interior is free of mold, mildew or foul odors.SHIPPING:
