1957 Chevrolet 283 CID Corvette V8 rat kustom hot SBC small block 3731548 :
$425.00

You are offerding on what I believe to be a 1957 Chevrolet small block V8. The block does not have the side motor mounts cast into it. It is a long block with crank, pistons, heads, valve train etc. The block casting number is: 3731548. The block date code is F147. That\'s good for June 14th 1957. The suffix number is clearly re stamped; possibly due to a decking. The head casting numbers are both 3731554. Head date codes are: E 1 7 & D 26 7. Good for May 1st 1957 & April 26th 1957. The valve covers appear to be chromed originals based on the casting numbers on the insides. They are the cool \"stagger bolt\" ones. The crank has been drilled and tapped for a bolt. I bought this engine ~10 years ago for a traditional hot rod and decided to run a Buick Nailhead. After hauling it home, I put it on a stand, kept it in dry storage and never did anything with it. It\'s time to let it go. The story from the gentleman I bought it from was: \"...was in a \'40 Ford with a six pack; it was a hot motor.\" Someone drilled and tapped the block to accept a late model starter probably for a late model automatic. Other than the late model starter holes, the engine externally appears to be in good usable shape. i.e. No readily noticeable stripped threads, cracks, and it turns over as it should. If the extra starter holes bother you, I\'ve successfully MIG welded cast iron holes shut by oxy-acetylene heating prior to what I call a \"top of hole fill MIG\", a light grind followed by a d/a 220grit. Do your homework; ask all questions. I can put into a crate if buyer wants to arrange shipping. Thanks! -The Kustomizer
