Up for sale, a 1960\'s Vox Super Lynx Deluxe mode V253 in exceptional condition and in good working order. Produced for only two short years in 1966 and \'67, the Super Lynx Deluxe was the most ornate, expensive, and rare of the three \"Lynx\" models. This particular example is stunningly clean, and complete with all of the original hangtags and case candy! Commissioned by Vox and produced in Italy at the Crucianelli factory, this Super Lynx Deluxe is a lovely European interpretation of Gibson\'s ES-335. Complete and very well cared for, this guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike\'s Guitar Bar and plays very well with low, slinky action.
The tone is unmistakably Vox, with a jangle and snap that screams \"British Invasion\" balanced by the hollowbody construction that adds some midrange and low end heft to the single coil pickups. More robust than a Fender single coil in many respects, this Super Lynx has a sound all its own with a more percussive quality and rounder sounding notes.
The flamey maple neck has a slender C profile and these necks were actually made by Eko for Crucianelli, making the Super Lynx a partnership between two of the biggest Italian guitar factories. The neck has a smooth gloss finish, bound rosewood fretboard, pearl block inlays, and original frets that are practically mint, showing virtually no visible wear. The scale length is a full 25\" and the stock nut measures a full 1 11/16\" in width for easy chording and accurate lead work The headstock sports a three ply Vox veneer and original tuning machines that still hold pitch well.
On the body, the original vibrato tailpeice and bridge are intact and work very well together to give a smooth and responsive action for everything from surfy warbles to deeper dives. The stock \"Super Lynx Deluxe\" pickguard, chrome knobs, bridge, and even the \"Vox\" embossed bridge cover is present and in fantastic shape. The floating bridge has been pinned for optimal stability, and the switch tip is a modern replacement (the only changed component on an otherwise 100% original instrument). As with virtually every vintage Vox guitar from Italy, there is some notable checking of the poly finish across the body. Although these guitars have fairly thick finishes and the checking is prominent, we can assure you that there are no cracks, breaks or repairs of any kind on the guitar. The arch of the top has also sunken slightly between the two pickups where there is much tension exhibited on the body, but all bracing is solid and the top is in great shape, with ideal height for both pickups. This Super Lynx Deluxe a real vintage beauty that has been very well preserved!
Rare, near mint, and visually striking with its rich cherry finish, this Italian Vox comes complete with all of the hangtags, paperwork and accessories. These include the stock Vox polish cloth, bridge cover, blue vinyl Vox \"wallet,\" warranty hangtag, Vox brochure, manual, roller bearing tremolo pamphlet, Super Lynx model card, and original allen wrenches and bag.
The original gray hardshell case with gold plush interior is included.
