Up for sale is a rare 1963 Ford \"Q Code\" 427 Engine. It is a Top Oiler.This was a true barn find that sat for many years in a rural Pennsylvania barn, not far from the famous Maple Grove Raceway. The story behind this is that it was purchased by a racer who wanted to use it as a replacement engine after he blew up his 1968 Cobra Jet 428 sometime around 1970. He never got around to putting it in the Mustang, which was sold in 1973 (sorry, I tried to get info on the car, but it\'s long gone). The engine sat on a stand in the barn for over 40 years until the racer passed away and his estate put it up for sale. After I purchased the engine, I took it to a machine shop to get it checked, cleaned and ready for sale.I\'ll give you the whole rundown so you know the story before purchasing.The Block (C3AE 6015-AB) - Block was magnafluxed and is in great condition. It is standard bore - never been overbored. Never any sleeves or damage. Block is date coded 3F7 (June 7, 1963)Crankshaft (C3AE-B) - Crankshaft is -.010 under on both rods & mains.Rods (C3AE-C) - Rods are original, free of defects and have been shot peened. They are just like new. They are bushed for floating pistons and have \"football\" rod bolts.Intake Manifold (C3AE 9424-E) - The intake is just like new. It was degreased and glass bead blasted to perfect condition.Oil Pan - Very Good, has the windage baffle still intact. Rocker Arms - Adjustable For Solid Cam, Have been reconditioned, shafts were replaced. Perfect.
Valve Covers - Brand new Pent Roof Chrome with 427 logo.Bell Housing and clutch fork - Both have been hot tanked and shot blasted. Mint.Heads - (C3AE 6090-H) - Both head have 2 small cracks from Head bolt holes to exterior (exhaust side). The good news is that these can be used without repair as cracks are not in a critical area. Please see yellow grease pencil marks in photos. These are low-rise, big valve heads.Carburetor - Original Holley C3AE-9510-B. Rated at 700 cfm.Distributor - Original dual point C3AF-12127-AE.Air cleaner: New Reproduction chrome 14\" op en element.Fuel pump - NOS, still in box.
Generator - Original with correct pulley cast together with generator fan. (needs to be rebuilt)
Starter - Original - needs to be rebuilt.I also have the camshaft, push rods, timing cover, water neck, breather tube, water pump, balancer, pulleys and brackets, and original hardware including the cross-bolts for the mains. (see photos)I have spent over $1000 on the machine work, so please, no low-ball offers. Price is FIRM.
