1890 – Jackson Brewing Company is formed by a group of localNew Orleans business men. The company sells Jackson Bohemian Brew.
1895 – Lawrence Fabacher sells his famous FabacherRestaurant and purchases enough Jackson Brewing Company stock to take controlof the Brewery.
1919 – On November 23rd the name “Jax” was usedfor the first time.
1920 to 1933 - During prohibition the brewery continued tooperate by producing soft drinks such as root beer and grape nehi and alsoproduced a “near beer” with the legal alcohol content of one-half of onepercent. 1933 - Prohibition ends on April 13th and 80,000cases of Jax Beer is sold on this day.
1958 – Over one million barrels of Jax Beer is producedwhich elevates Jackson Brewing Company to the position of seventh largestsingle location brewery operation in the US.
1972 – The Fabacher’s sell the brewery to Meister Brau Inc.out of Chicago, IL.
1974– The Brewery is closed due to major losses. The name “Jax” is sold to PearlBrewing Company out of Texas which produces beer under the name Jax for severalyears
