1970 Tucker Sno-Cat 543A- Great Project-Needs Restored-Getting Harder To Find.:
$6000.00

This is a 1970 Tucker Sno-Cat Model 543A. It was brought down from the Idaho Mountains to the Arizona Desert about 5 years ago. The fellow I got it from said he drove it up on his trailer before transport South. But after sitting in the Arizona Desert North of Tucson, I was not so lucky. Took about 3 hours to winch, pull, push ,winch again the thing up on my trailer. Mostly because it took a bit to get the tracks turning again to kind of climb over my fenders .Think Tin Man from Wizard of Oz. But they are all free now. After I got it back to my shop,we drained the old stinky gas, changed the plugs ,fluid, etc and kind of got it kind of running off a gallon jug. But not well now.It started raining and snowing, not too mention dark, so we gave up. A buddy of mine who helped is a real Mopar guy. He thinks the stock Chrysler 318 Industrial engine was worked on awhile back.Has a fairly new clutch. He thinks they changed the block to a 360 but used most everything else from the 318. The exhaust manifolds are dated late 69. The valve covers are original red repainted blue. Has a harmonic balancer. And so on. I am no Chrysler expert, and will leave it at that.. That it does not run well now, that it may or may not be able to get running without the use of an engine puller and new engine. So while I was told it was running and driving fine like 5 years ago up in Idaho, I had no such luck. Yet. The fellow I got it from said he got it up in Idaho from an older fellow who owned it forever on his ranch there. And that he had been trying to buy it for like 10 years. He finally got it, but then got transferred down to Arizona.Has new starter. 19,900 miles or so. 1506 hours Or so. I dragged it back to my shop in Prescott Valley and tried to get it up and running before I try to unload it.So before I get it down off my trailer again to figure out engine , I am listing it here. If it sells ,fine. If it does not, better. I will find a spot for it and get to it sometime. These things are neat. This one is all there, should run down the trails again without much effort. It needs paint, front windshield is cracked, front and rear seats need new covers, some of the center links on the tracks need replacing, the pontoons look to of been patched in the distant past, some tracks need replacing and welding, it needs to be gone thru top to bottom to be safe. These are great machines. And getting harder to find in any shape.Spending a lot of time and hopefully a little money will go a long way with this. I can only put 12 pictures down here. If you need pics of the underside, diffs, transfer case, rear seat area, dash board, etc, let me know. Can possibly help with delivery for expenses on the West Coast if you have a way of unloading it. And no problem getting to Long Beach California Shipper if you are overseas for expenses. I have this listed locally and reserve the right to sell it thru there.
