WE ARE FLORIDA\'S OLDEST VINTAGE GUITAR SHOP !

1983 GIBSON L-5CT \'59 Reissue the 1 & only special ordered documented like no other !

So where do we begin to describe the rarest & the ultimate custom-made Gibson guitar ever produced ?, this was the brain child of visionary store owner, Jeff Hill of Knut-Koupee Music in Minneapolis in 1982, Jeff had the hippest shop in the country at that time while having clients such as Prince, the Stones & many more stop by his shop when in town, he got together w/J.P.Moats & his Custom Shop staff of 16 to create this 1-off example of Gibson’s rarest guitar, the L-5CT “Thin Body & documented its history like no other guitar on the face of this Earth, its crazy Quilted Maple used on every part of this L-5 was hand picked by Jeff & the Gibson crew, its Top, Back, sides & neck were simply the best woods the factory had hidden away, Jeff supplied Gibson with some highly figured Brazilian Rosewood for its fingerboard & headstock veneers both front & back, Jeff wanted something special so the made this w/a 2 1/2” depth like the rarest “George Gobel” models made in 1959, he also wanted to have a choice of using it acoustically or electrically…hence Gibson made 2 pickgards for Jeff…1 made from Brazilian Rosewood with a Johnny Smith Floating pickup mounted & 1 Marbleized pickgard w/no pickup that could be swapped out at anytime for its electric unit that plugged in at any given moment thru its “F” hole rather discreetly, also having some hand cut & ultra colorful abalone cloud inlays in its fingerboard and the front & back of its headstock, its neck is a 5 piece maple & walnut lamination that matches its Quilted maple body, she has a nice orange label stating “Custom Made”, finally she stays in tune w/its Kluson Sealfast tuners & cool 6 finger adjustable tailpiece.

Included in this package is a signed document from June 1st, 1983 on Gibson letterhead by all 16 employees from the Custom Shop, an original wholesale invoice to Knut-Koupee Music for a grand total of $2049.40 May 5th, 1982, wood chip samplings, signs from the 1983 NAMM Show when it was displayed at Gibson’s Booth, a rare photo of Jeff Hill standing in front of the Kalamazoo factory w/J.P.Moats when he personally picked up his prize in his totally cool 1974 Porsche Carrera (boy did Jeff have good taste) & finally last but not least, a “log” of quilted maple from the actual tree that was cut down & its maple was used to make this very special guitar, imagine its list price today if you could even order it (but you couldn’t have its Brazilian woods used), she is near mint having only some weather checking, 100% original including all that was discussed & comes with its original brown hard case.
