1989 Mantis XCR

Mantis cycles was a cutting edge bicycle brand in the 1980s and early 1990s founded by Richard Cunningham. The XCR was the cross-country race frame made with an over-sized aluminum front triangle and a steel rear triangle. The two halves are bolted together.

The frame is a 21 in. I\'m just over 6-feet tall and it fits me well. Riders from probably 5\'11\" to 6\'3\". The frame is in excellent condition with no dents or cracks. The paint is NOT original. It was repainted several years ago. The paint is in good shape, looks great, and is a medium quality overall - not super high-end, but not a bad job. The color is \"Barney the Dinosaur\" purple.

The components are top notch! Highlights include: a chromed Bontrager Comp fork, an aluminum American 130mm stem, Cook Brothers Racing RSR cranks, Avid Tri-Align brakes (slightly newer than the frame), SunTour XC Pro seat post, Shimano XT derailers and thumb shifters, Ringle skewers, and a press-in bottom bracket.

The geometry measures:

  • top tube: 24\"
  • head tube: 163mm
  • stand over: 32 1/2\"
  • seat tube: 20\" center-to-center
