19th Cent Robert Molyneux ship\'s Chronometer movement-English Ships clock maker:
$299.99

This is a 19th century Robert Molyneux & Sons Admiralty made ship\'s chronometer movement. It is a fusee movement and is all brass with brass dial. Molyneux was an esteemed English clockmaker and made many chronometers for the Royal Navy. The dial is approx. 4\" diameter and the movement is approx. 3\" diameter. This is a salvaged movement and has been in general storage for many decades. It is sold for parts or restoration only. It has considerable rust, dirt and tarnish on the interior and parts of the exterior. It has some nicks and scratches. It probably still has a few small pieces of fusee cable in it. It may have some missing parts as a wheel came out of the movement as I tried to rinse some of the tarnish away. The wheel will be included and it looks reasonably complete otherwise as far as I can tell. I am sure to say the springs in the movement are shot and would need to be replaced and the escapement will have to be reworked. I tried to photograph the movement from several angles so you can make your own judgment in terms of what would need to be done. This is a quality not easily found historical movement that would be a worthy restoration project or a source of historical clock parts.
