We are pleased to offer this BEAUTIFUL antique, French, Napoleonic or Empire style,dining or fireside/accentchair (we have 2 available). The chair datesfrom the mid1800s and features ELABORATE carving.It is either walnut oroak andretains thevery dark, original,stained finish. The back of the chair isarched and deeply carved/incised with an acanthus scroll and ropepattern. Atop the center arch is aclover leaf, gothiccross.On each side of thechair backis a carved lion head finial. These are extremely detailed and feature a roaring (open mouth) lion head.The lion detail continues to the front of the chair. Detailed, carvedpaw feet accent the front legs. The paw design is on the front and side profiles of the feet with the back profile smooth.
The chair has GORGEOUS, vintagefabric. The fabric is soft, almost like a veryshort nap chenille. It is a deep crimson red with a unique pattern. The pattern features large, golden bees. It also features laurel wreaths. The wreaths are tonal with the red fabric and are only visible in certain light. It is a very interesting fabric.
The chairis in very good condition for its age.It is heavy and sturdy. Itstill retains the original, flat screws thatwere usedduring construction. The fabric is good with only minor signs of age/use. It is free rips or tears and only shows some very minor soiling in only a couple of small areas. The original finishdoes have crazing and has a crackled appearance. It is not loose or peeling and it is in good condition for its age.This is a fabulous antique chair. WE DO HAVE A TOTAL OF FOUR IDENTICAL CHAIRS AVAILABLE. THEY AREALL IN GOOD CONDITION.
