Acquired from an estate, this violin came in an old and dried out case. The back length is exactly 14 3/8 inches. The wood has a nice oil varnish typical of the German factory violins produced for sale in the 20s. This violin is pleasant to the ear and is easy to play - responsive, easy action across the strings and up and down the fingerboard. The pegs turn easily and hold. You DO want to be able to play it, so I am including a new bridge on it to get you going till you get it fitted. (I cannot cut a bridge, sorry. I am not a luthier, just a violinist who knows decent fiddles and can string them up.) It has new strings. The bottom will need glue and clamping fairly soon, and there are slight cracks on the top on either side of the saddle, but the cracks are stable. (The original chinrest was really tightened down too much and left that way for too many years. I can include it if requested.) This violin would make a good fiddle for those country and bluegrass jams.
