GREAT GIFT IDEAGreetings fellow SciFi fans. Here\'s our newest set and we\'re sure you\'ll be as happy with it (if not happier) as you were with the first two. We\'ve given it a whole new frame and base design. The Post Studs are now a brand new design and fit better. We\'ve also gone with smaller, commercially made Chess Pieces (of the same high quality glass as before) that are much easier to play with than the previous model.
These sets were quite popular in the 1980\'s and 1990\'s as I made and sold quite a few. Each set is completely hand crafted by me with care and accuracy. The delicate curves of the Main Frame and Base are made from sturdy wood and finished as though they were made of sand cast metal. These require a lot of work cutting, sanding and finishing but I think they look great. The main boards are 7\" x 7\"x1/4\" genuine (durable)Plexiglas onto whichthe board pattern is spray painted in white enamel. The 3.5\" x 3.5\" Attack Boards are crafted in the same manner.
Due to the difficulty (many, many steps) in producing these sets (all done by me from scratch), this is the lowest price I can start these sales and still make some money. Not a lot, but some. Please note that the included glass chessmen are commercially produced. This is the only part of the set that I do not custom-make.
These new sets are a great improvementover the previously sold model. The Attack Board Posts are no longer made of acrylic which can fracture but of a much tougher and flexible clear material. The new Post Studs enable one to easily reposition the Attack Boardsanywhere on the set. This marks a vast improvement in ease of play. Finally, the new Chess Pieces are now beautiful solid glass! Frosted for black, clear for white. All pieces haveprotective felt on their bases.Whether you just want to display this set as an art piece or actually play, you\'ll be happy with this easily affordable prop reproduction. Minor assembly is required.
