Power hammers have been used to help forge metal ever since the smith decided that he needed more capacity to forge a larger mass than he was capable of doing with his own hand. This need generated the idea of using an assistant as a striker, multiple strikers, and then the power hammer.
Today power hammers are still one of the most efficient ways to increase production and profits. Bladesmiths find power hammers a must for making knives in a time saving mannor. This hammer should last the new owner a lifetime if properly maintained.
This power hammer had been sitting idle in a shop for years and has beenwell taken care of. The arms, links and pins are all tight and in excellent working condition. The wrap around guide is tight and solid. The babbitt bearings are in excellent condition. The clutch works perfectly with good control. The machine can be feathered easily and accurately which gives the operator more control of how the hammer hits. The new dies can be removed and switched easily.

There are two details about this hammerI will mention for accuracy sake. The clutch hub has a small one chip on the edge (see picture). The foot treadle pivot pin is a bit loose which give the foot ring some side to side movement. It does not affect control of the hammer. This can be an easy fix with an oversize pin or by building upthe old pinwith some weld.
Customer pick up is preferred, but will ship this power hammer if needed. Satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back (does not include shipping). Please include your zip code if you write for a shipping quote.
