High Pressure Sodium lights, also called sodium and HPS, emits a yellowish light and are usually used for flowering plants. Sodium are the brightest and most efficient lights and are the most popular. They are often used for flowering plants later in the plant’s life.The yellow hue simulates the autumn sun plants get late in the season when flowering. Sodium bulbs have a longer life span than metal halides.

Metal Halide lights,also called Halide or just MH, emit a white light and is used for plants with lots of foliage. Halides are usually used for the beginning stages for plant growth, before flowering. The halides are not as bright and efficient as sodium but they do have a better overall color spectrum for plants. The metal halidebulbs don’t last as long as the high pressure sodium bulbs.

This setup comes with a German polished spider reflector with a 12foot cord and 99.9% reflectivity. It also comes with one HPS bulb and one Metal Halide bulb plus a FREE digital ballast that uses 30% less electricity than the regular heavy coil and capaciter ballast. The ballast has a 6inch cord that attaches to the reflector cord and a 6 foot grounded power cord.
