8 pill linear amplifier for 10 meter original Toshiba 2SC2879\'s:
$545.75

Up for sale is a beautiful straight 8 pill amplifier built by me a few months ago.The amp has about 1 hour of air time and 30 minutes of testing/tuning time into a dummy load.It works as it should,I was driving it with an RM Italy KL 203P and saw 300 watt dead key with over 1300 watts PEP with super forward average.Testing and tuning was done at 13.6v,the unit was never volted beyond 14.2v.It includes a new high pressure 150CFM Delta fan,on/off switch,LED.and four 6 gauge power wires, two positive(YELLOW)and two negative(black). The unit was built the right way with two 4 port combiners and seperate RG316 coax to each input/output of each 2 pill section for efficiency. Also uses LC network coils on the input and output. You wont find any out there that are built like this one.You could use a big radio, 1 pill or 2 pill(2290)or(2879)to drive this unit. With a 2 pill 2290 driver you should see up around 2KW PEP on 14.6v.
NOTE**The 465 trimmer cap on the input in the above picture has been replaced with fixed silver micas, the picture was taken at the time I was tuning the input to find the value needed. Not to be used on 11 meter or CB band, this amplifier is for ham use only!!!!Item will not be DOA.
NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS on these units due to the nature of improper use from owners using high voltage,or over driving.Unit will be packed well, double boxed, and shipped USPS tracking and insurance...
Thanks for stopping by :)

I just wanted to add that all the input/output caps where matched to within 1% tolerance value using a LC Meter 2B,and the MFJ 259B showed 99% efficiency match at a 1.1 SWR,I probably could have got it 100% but my dummy load is not 100% as you all know they dont make a perfect matched dummyload even using 1% tolerance resistors in a load will show some X reactance. This amp was not built just grabing random caps out of a drawer that could be 10% tolerance mismatched. It was done quite a bit better. Also got questioned on the ground through the front,,i had no room for the second ground wire in the back due to the output combiner and LC coil in the way so I relocated it to the front.I also used high temp hot glue instead of grommets because I believe it works better than rubber,,will never chaff like the rubber does. This box wont win any fashion contests,,but its sure to be heard.
Hope that answers most of the questions Im getting..
Good luck :)

The relay used ia a 20 amp DPDT,,the normal value used in an 8 pill is a 10 amp,,this circuit can see up to 7 or 8 amps of current so I went with a 20 AMP relay for the added protection. Also I used all metal clad 1000pf across output transformers. Some say overkill,,but I like overkill.
The amp draws between 160-180 amps when driven with a 2 pill(2SC2290 box)I powered it with a 130 amp supply, the KL203p was on a seperate 30 amp supply. You will need a 200 amp DC supply to run this amp properly.
Anymore questions please PM me.
Good luck :)
