9/8 HAMMERED DULCIMER hammer case string harp zither portable travel mini lap :):
$139.00

This is a 9/8 Hammer(ed) Dulcimer, complete with double-sided hammers (one wood, one covered) and nice case.
Overall good cosmetic and structural condition, has some small blemishes on sides where stand was used to hold the instrument while being played, and hardly worth a mention, but very very very faint lightening of wood on soundboard where letter note-strips were once taped (also included); if I didn\'t mention, you\'d probably never notice :) Only one string has a small spot of rust on it (can be cleaned), and all strings are present, and the instrument holds its tuning just fine. Case also in very nice condition, has three working latches, and two mirror-image compartments on each side where you can hold your hammers and other items (overall measurements are about 11 inches top to bottom, and about 25 longest side). I personally find the distance between the bass and treble strings to be too close in height, and find using longer hammers with maybe rounder heads like Dusty Strings\' work better, and also, experimenting with the height/angle of the instrument (all pretty standard dulcimer issues); maybe moving the bass bridge to the right would lower those strings and create more height difference (?). The bridges are marked by using lighter or darker wood so that you can tell where you are while playing. Lastly, there appears in photo #11 to be a slight separation where the side meets the back.
I found a description of a dulcimer which matches this one on the internet after doing some research -- that descriptions reads: \"made in Blowing Rock, North Carolina in the late 1980’s.
9/8 w/floating spruce sound board, hard rock maple pins/sides and mahogany sides, with a solid maple back, weighs in around 4.5 lbs.\"If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and happy to answer.
All offers lower 48 only, and payment within three days of sale (no international offerding).
Thank you, and happy offerding! :)
