Up for sale comes this very rare Academy Award Medal for still photography for the year of 1943 class 6. The medal was awarded to Floyd McCarty For Outstanding Achievement in Still Photography Class 6. Floyd McCarty won the award for a Candid shot of Peter Lorre while he was working on Passage to Marseilles 1943. I have a copy of a photo showing Lorre and Paul Lukas having lunch at the Warner Bros commissary, but unsure if this is the photo that won the award..Floyd McCarty was born on June 22nd in 1913 and his professional career spanned more than four decades (1929 - 1975). He additionally worked for several film studios, including Warner Brothers, Columbia and Universal. His most prominent photographic subjects included James Dean, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Marlon Brando,Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin , Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Debbie Reynolds, Natalie Wood, Henry Fonda, John Wayne and Doris Day. He was the still photographer on numerous films, some include. \"Some Like It Hot 1959 \" Oceans 11 1960 \" \" Giant 1956 \" he took the famous photo of James Dean in the back of the model A with his cowboy boots up. And \" Rebel Without Acause \" 1955, just to name a few.The overall condition is good with signs of ware, scratches to surface front and back, a couple of dings along edge. Please look at photos its not perfect so don\'t expect it to be, after all its 75 years old!!!! The overall size is 1 3/4 inches in diameter, is made of solid bronze with a gold plate finish, matt finish is worn off with little showing between letters..
