Vintage Accuphase amps, tuners and preamps require an odd and hard to find AC line cord that is undersized and if original now over 35 years old, well worn and potentially unsafe. I have found an elegant solution that works well and is also an upgrade over the undersized OEM power cord. I have probably sold over 60 of these high quality cords.
I found a limited supply of brand new 8 ft, 16 gauge power cords that are rated to over 1500 watts (the P 300 draws a max of 550 watts). This high quality UL listed cord is made from softpliableneoprene, not hard plastic. The wall plug is polarized however the female end that plugs into the chassis is not polarized, allowing it to be rotated 180 degrees to eliminate ground loops.
This is a brand new cord that has been custom ground to fit tightly into the AC cord receptacle on Accuphase E 202, T 101 T 100, P 300 C 200 and others, and once fitted, looks original with no visible signs of the rework required to make it work in the Accuphase AC socket, see images. This is an easy fix and a far better solution than modifying the amp or tuner to a 3 prong grounded IEC connector with a one position power cord that cannot be flipped to address a ground loop hum.
Why take a chance with an original 30+ year old cord or non-correct IEC modification that may end up being noisy due to ground loops?
