This is a very well designed and built machine with high quality parts. Despite its age it is still a cool looking piece of technology and with the latest upgrades I have done to it is also fantastic sounding piece that will fit well in anyone\'s audio system.
It is made to be beautiful, excellent sounding and to last decades. Made in Japan.This is a rare and hard to find player with white front panel in such an excellent shape.
This player comes from my personal collection. I have too many pieces so can not keep all of them.
List of the things done on this player is long. I am an electronics professional and I have performed all the restoration work on this player.
I have changed most of the electrolytic caps in the power supply, in the digital, analog output and DAC section.
New caps are of the highest quality and from the well known manufacturers (OSCON, Nichicon, Panasonic, Sprague, Elna, ROE, KEMET,...)
New high quality caps are chosen specifically for a circuit function.
This player is modified to work in NOS (Non Over Sampling) mode.Rectifying bridge for analog and digital section is replaced by low noise soft recovery diodes.Major caps are bypassed by high quality film caps to achieve the lowest noise on voltage supply rails.Additional film caps are added to the most critical ICs in the DAC section.The laser lens is cleaned up.The output RCA connectors are cleaned up with specially formulated cleaning solution used in avionics instrumentation.The CD tray is moving in and out quietly and smoothly.
I have tested it thoroughly countless hours so the new parts are fully burned in and ready for prime time.
The sound is just spectacular, analog like, musical, transparent, almost alive. The sound quality of this player surpasses the original player to the level hard to believe. Just give it a good recording and enjoy it. You can listen to it a whole day and at the end you would wish to have even more music.I am very confident that you too would like the sound of this player.
Everything is cleaned inside and out.
It reads regular CDs and CDRs. I had a couple of CDs out of my large collection that had difficulties reading some tracks.

I have a couple of other vintage players with Philips TDA1540 and TDA1541 D/A converters and can share my experience: To really appreciate the sound of these vintage treasures they need to be recapped at least.
NOS mode brings recapped player to another level.
