RARE 1850/60s Applique Flying Geese Antique QUILT Gettysburg PA Civil War Signed Clara

gb-best offering rare Pennsylvania quilt patterns for your collection! click picture to enlargeCutwork with reverse applique work click picture to enlarge

A rare to fine pattern which in all my years of collecting, hunting, searching and selling, I haven\'t ever found this pattern.

It\'s so unique with cutwork applique and reverse applique work. Medallions framed in flying geese in all directions.

An incredible piece of Pennsylvania folk art!

I found an early stamp name. I could only make out Clara.

There\'s green over dye prints with dots, early pinks and the flying geese look like they were turkey reds.

This is the type of quilt that keeps us so motivated to hunt in these parts. Every so often I find one that\'s so different and steps outside the box than the others :)

Measurements: a huge 97 x 95 inches

Hand quilted 8-9 stitches per inch. Applique is hand sewn. Batting is thin.

Edges are turned and hand sewn.

There\'s age and water spotting. Turkey red accents are gone throughout which is typical to see with the early reds. There\'s wear and rubs that are scattered, some tears and mellowing with time.

Circa 1850/60s era

Collected from an estate in the Gettysburg Pennsylvania area.

It\'s a very special pattern to add to your collection. I know you won\'t find another quite like it and it\'s worth bringing home.

I would love to see the design made into a pattern and recreated.
