The little colored bird sings with full voice, animates flawlessly and the mechanism runs so smoothly, an absolutely wonderful singing bird box of the highest quality that is exceptionally well preserved.Griesbaum dominated the manufacture of bird boxes in the 20th century, for more than 50 years. Founded in 1905 in Triberg, they originally made clock parts until in 1920 they embarked on the production of singing bird boxes until their closure in 1988. Following Griesbaums closure in 1988, the contents of the Griesbaum workshops were purchased by Siegfried Wendel who moved the production to Rudesheim am Rhein (Germany) setting up MMM (Mechanische Musikwerke Manufaktur) GmbH in 1990. In 1993 they resumed the making of singing bird boxes in the tradition of Griesbaum. These rare singing bird boxes have become hugely collectable, and would add value to any music box collection.
