American Girl Doll Josefina, Pleasant Company 1997 In Original Box Rare VGC:
$199.99

Here for the American Girl Doll collector is gorgeous PRE-MATTEL Josefina by Pleasant Company--in VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT gently cared for condition in her original box! This Josefina is an early Josefina, as signified by the encircled numeral 1 stamped on the back of her neck. 1997 was the year Pleasant Company introduced Josefina, making this doll a first edition 1997 doll. She arrives wearing her Meet outfit, tagged Pleasant Company 1997. Also included are her hand tag, soft cover Meet Josefina book and brochure, copyright Pleasant Company.
The lettering Pleasant Company and the copyright sign are stamped on the back of her neck, followed by the encircled numeral 1. White neck strings are intact. Tan cloth body is very clean. She holds a pose and stands easily on her own. Long black glossy hair appears to be still in the original braid (some flyaway hairs noted) and tied with the original blue ribbon and adorned with the original yellow flower (the original rubber band has been replaced.) Facial coloring is very pretty. Eyelashes are soft dark brown (not stiff and black like those of later dolls) and frame perfect dark brown eyes. She has a very faint blue mark on her right arm (my camera would not pick it up.) I see no other marks or stains on her body. Her leather shoes are slightly different in color and have some stains and wear; in particular, the leather strings are worn out (The stains seem to be from the leather laces. The stains and wear are common for the shoes of these older Josefina dolls.) The box has some shelf wear and one of the corners is loose. No band.
A wonderful quality early Josefina! A hard to find doll!
From my smoke-free home.
