This attractive 9 x 12 original print (I believe it is a lithograph as every reference to his prints says lithographs) by well known Creek artist Solomon McCombs was a favorite of a friend of mine who died last summer. His widow is now offering it for sale. McCombs was a student of Acee Blue Eagle, founder of the art department of Bacone Indian College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He had exhibits of his work in many museums around the country including the Smithsonian and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. A number of his works are included in the permanent collections of the Heard Museum in Phoenix, the Denver Art Museum, and others. The article on the back tells McCombs' story. Very little of his work is currently on the market. The print is mounted in a 12 by 15 inch wooden frame with a glass cover.
