Description Grundig 4040W tube radio made in West Germany in 1953.

This radio receives in FM (from 86,5to 100,5 Mhz) two bands;and in AM (long, medium and short wave). Has an input female jack to connect turntable, CD player, iPod.. is equipped with four original Grundig (Multi-Oktav) loudspeakersfor low, mid and high range.

Has a 6,5W output power stage with EL12 tube.This radio is equipped with tone controls for trebble and bass.Turnable ferrite antenna operating in MW (MW-F push button) on left knob.

Mounts 7 tubes: EC92, EF85, ECH81, EAF42, EABC80, EM34, EL12.

Works from 110 to 240 volt with its internal voltage regulator.

Dimensions (WHD): 655x427x316mm / 25.8x16.8x12.4 inch.

Restoration

Electrical chassis:

First step is a general deep clean and a anti-oxide treatment
to the electrical chassis push buttons, knobs and tube sockets;
then we check electrical circuit to find leaking capacitors, bad tubes or every
problem could affect a more than 50 years old equipement to offer a safe and smooth-working radio.
We also try to conserve originality as close as possible with same period NOS components
and only NOS european tubes like Valvo or Telefunken.
Then we set medium frequency and radio frequency to obtain
the best sensivity in receiving and maximum power output and clear sound both in AM and in FM.

Wooden chassis:
Old original nitro-cellulose trasparent laque normally has scratches or is discoloured by the sun or
is simply worn out due the time.
We remove old bad paint and renew the chassis with professional product for restoring antique wooden furniture
to obtain a natural light-polished wood color and not a plastic effect.
We also polish all brass parts (like profiles. knobs, emblems, trims..) and clean the front panel cloth.
Our purpose is to offer a valuable collectible equipment in brand new condition.
