These dolls known as Grodner Tal, or\"Tuck Comb,\" or Peg Wooden Dolls were made in the Groden Valley,Grodner Tal and South Tyrol areas of the Alps by home artisans. This particular pair was made in the 1830\'s based on the originalclothing they are wearing. They were exported throughout Europe andAmerica. They have nicely carved details given that they are only 2 inches tall! These types of dolls wouldoften be sold at the German Nuremberg Toy Market.

These are 2 out of 8 that I will be selling. This sale is just for the two dolls pictured in the listing. They are all original and in good condition for their age and the fact that they were intended for play. The boy doll has some paint loss to the back of his head. The girl dolls appears to be all intact- the clothing is stitched on and I will not attempt to remove her hat. They have sweetly painted faces and the cutest red painted slippers on their fully jointed bodies! All limbs arepresent- which is so incredible- since so many of these would have lost some of their limbs during their nearly 200 year adventures as dolls! I wouldn\'t recommend making them pose for you however! They are fragile being so small. They really are very tiny and would make great little dollhouse doll\'s dolls! There is some discoloration to the antique clothing but the styling of the clothing is amazing- the leg-o-mutton huge sleeves on the girlwith the pokestyle bonnet! It\'s amazing thatsomeone could have dressed them so perfectly! They are lovely blue silk and cotton that has aged. Just lovely!
