I am anticipating a move sometime in the near future and I want to clear the shelves, unload project clocks, music box's, whistlers, cars, etc, time to purge. Too many projects, not enough time, Hopefully, make my life a bit more manageable, let go of projects that I do not have time for or possesthe skills to complete them or simply lost interest in.
OK, I've owned this bugger for years, Initially when I acquired it, my intentions were to completely restore this clock. But, with all the "Intentions" I have, regrettably, all do not always come to fruition unfortunately. I started with a complete rebuild of the movement, it works and functions perfectly, chains are original and fit properly, cuckoo and quail trains are timed properly, etc, it's in perfect working order. Originally, my intentions were to get the case and pediment to my wood carver for repairs and restoration so, instead of reinstalling it in the case, I "borrowed" the movement and decided to break it in on another clock I put it into and ran it for approximately a year, but, it's back where it belongs in this clock. So, it's had some use since the rebuild but, still in terrific condition and working perfectly.
Obviously, the case and carvings never made it to the wood jockey, they are kind of rough and need some TLC, I'm hoping it ends up in the hands of a person with both the time and necessary skills to restore this piece because once finished properly, will be a very nice clock once again. The case and carvings are exactly as I receivedthem, prior repairs and replacement carvings needed, stag ear, leaf tips, antler work, wing tip, branch ends, etc. It has a very well carved stag, neck and breast are very well done, glass eyes as well, once the repairs are carried out, it should be a gorgeous crown pediment. Overall a very large size, commanding presenceat 2 ft tall and 18" wide at the pediment. Obviously , the complication of being a cuckoo and quail helps as well and makes it a little more appealing and collectible.
Original back door with gongs present, I suspect original bellows that believe it or not, still work!! The top leather material is as dry as the salt flats in Utah!! I would recommendrecovering them, I also believe the weights are original and all matching, marked 2 1/2', one weight loop is MIA, see pics, new loop will need to be brazed on. I also believe the pendulum is original as well, so, some good points and bad points here, in the hands of the right person with the proper skills, she'll sing once again. On the bright side, the movement is pristine and ready to go, It was last serviced several months ago I believe or you can service it again yourself, your call. Lastly, the hands are indeed carved bone and I also believe are original to the clock as well.
Oh, one last piece of pertinent info worth bringing to your attention, the birds are MIA, as received, flew the coop!! My apologies, I do have replacements but, they're all pristine birds and I'm apprehensive to let them go considering I still have a boatload of clock projects currently underway and many more to do, I may need them. I'll double check if I have some that I am willing to let go of and send them along with the clock but, no promises, have to check stock.
As stated earlier, I will be listing more clocks, items, etc in the near future so, check back, if you don't like what you see here, there may be something you will like in the upcoming days. I'm hoping to have enough time to list about twenty clocks, music box's, whistlers, wag on the wall's, BF embossed brass picture frame clocks and so on, so, keep an eye out. Well, that about does it, good luck and as always, Thank you very much for both your time and consideration, I really do appreciate it. Take care!!
Check out my other clock listings, any questions, feel free to ask, happy to accommodate, Thanks for looking and Take care.
