This handsome early, 7 1/2 inch tall, metal and composition, multi-ball-jointed male doll, model #1164, by A. Bucherer & Cie, Amriswil, Switzerland, SABA circa 1920s, wears his original, Police Officer jacket. He has wonderfully molded and painted features including deeply molded eyelids, slender nose,closed mouth andpainted, black hair beneath his molded cap with black visor, composition handsand large composition feet. Hehas wellmodeled, masculinefeatures and can assume any type pose with thirteen individual joints. This line of figureswas introduced at the spring, Leipzigfair in 1922 by Bucherer-Fisher (who worked for the famous, German toy company, MARKLIN) becoming an immediate success. His torso carries the incised signature: Made in Switzerland/Patents / Applied Forand he wears his original, traditional,dark blue felt, patrolman\'s uniform jacket with double-breasted pewter beadtrim and badge as well as his matching, grey molded cap with molded silver badge and visor. His body is in good condition with smooth working jointsalthough he needs matching dark blue flannel pants to match his jacket and has some slight chipping along the edge of his cap. He has had no repairs andhas no odors as he is from a smoke free home.Other Bucherer dolls shown in last photos are not included andeach will be listed separately.
