Buff & Buff Engineer\'s / Surveyors A Frame Transit w/ Box. Under the compass glass is the maker name Buff & Buff, and a reference to a patent number. The Buff & Buff firm originated after the break-up of the original Buff & Berger partnership about 1898. I would assume this transit dates from the 1920\'s from the serial number. This piece is beautiful and just waiting to be displayed.The overall condition is nice and hardly shows any signs of use, It has all the original green finish that is hard to find. The compass operates, it turns nicely and the all motions seem to move a they should. The three level vials are OK. Comes with original display box that is missing mounting plate. In picture one stands about 16 1/2inches and is heavy with box. Any overage on shipping will always be refunded.
