function passparaSC(){return \'&baseurl=\'+ escape((function(){var d = return d })()) + This sale is for an early 20th century professionally constructed and sewn clown suit. This suit is constructed in one piece with button front and back openings. The materials used for the construction are polished cotton and a soft, antique cotton for the lining. The top of the costume is a strong, polished cotton fabric with pink, gold, blue, and yellow stripes against a black background. The bottom or pants is also a soft polished cotton stripe in blues against a black background. The wide circular collar is white satin. The front and back are decorated with huge 2-inch padded buttons that are hand stitched through to the lining. All button holes are hand constructed as shown in slide 7. The entire suit is lined, and this lining is in good condition. The back opening runs horizontally, and it has a five button closure that has been repaired with hand and machine stitching; this is shown in slide 6. Five large buttons which may be original are still attached at this opening. A short tear in the opening on the left side has not been repaired. A red and a yellow patch were originally sewn to decorate the suit, but the yellow velvet patch in slide 2 has torn and frayed. No zippers - just large old buttons and big snaps from the late 19th or early 20th century. Most seams are doubly sewn. Very cool, beautiful early costume that was found with the other costumes and Odd Fellows jackets and cloaks that we are listing tonight. This costume has no indication of size. It has following measurements with all buttons closed: pit to pit 20.5 inches or 41 inches around; top of the sleeve at the shoulder to the sleeve hem measures 24 inches; waist band measures 19 inches or 38 inches around; the inseam is 26 inches; the overall length from the top of the neck edge to the hem of the pants is 57 inches.Without packing this costume weighs 2 pounds.
