Antique early Monzani, London wooden flute number 372, made in 1810:
$1450.00

Please note: ignore the shipping calculator, shipping costs are specified at the end of this description. This is a promising early Monzani flute, serial number 372, dated 1810 on the foot (the P in hallmarks also stands for 1810). The joints are made of silver tubings that slide into each other, I believe this flute therefore to be an example of his 1807 Patent Threadless flute. Advantage of the system is that the player has no hassle with fitting threads to the joints, disadvantage is that the wood cracks over the lining when it shrinks with age. Sadly, each part has a crack therefore, the head because of the inserted tenon, and the two bodty parts due to the lining of the sockets. Cyanoacrylate glue may come to the rescue here, best would be to remove the silver parts, close the crack as good as possible, and then re-ream the bore to better fit the silver parts. Two other interesting features of this flute are the second lever added to the Bb key ( in exactly the same style as the other keys, so most probably done in the Monzani workshop. Furthermore, there is a similar mounting for a key now gone that once covered a small hole between the G and A fingerholes, also made to produce a Bb or A#. Maybe the 'ninth key' Monzani mentions in one of his writings? The cork position indicator has lost its small silver cap. In the hallmarks, the HH mark is still faintly there. Length overall: 66.9 cm; Sounding Length 59.5 cm; Embouchure 10.1 x 8.6 mm.To be playable again, the flute will need quite some work of course, but it is complete. I will be listing some more flutes in the week to come, so keep an eye on my lisitngs.
