Antique Edwardian 1900s Gibson Girl Silk Embroidered Wedding Gown Dress S M: $420.00
Rare Antique Dress from the Belle Epoque era and the birth of the Gibson GirlThis dress is unique in itself in an age between the fading Victorian Age with the progressive female fashions of WWI.It was created by a fashion designer in Chicago IL, Louise Borovansky somewhere around 1901-1907.The dress was decommissioned from aPennsylvaniamuseum. It is extremely hard to find outside private collections and museums. It features the high neckline on earlier days combined with the flowing lines and drapery of the new era.The dress is made of silk sateen, georgette and satin embroidery. It has short sleeves, nipped waist, georgette hip drapery from front to the backThe 3D raised embroidery on the bodice section is center front and back. The dress closes with hook and eye closures in the back, which are hidden by the back panel embroidery. Approximate measurements:Bust - 37\"Waist - 28\'Length - 56\"Length with train - 84\"Sleeve - 16\" Condition: AS IS, multiple shred like tears throughout, the georgette fabric is torn around collar. Due to the nature of silk manufacturing in the late 19th and early 20th century the metal salts used to treat it produce a tear like effect in the fabric over time. The dress displays very well but will take some effort to restore to wearable condition. Get your own valid XHTML YouTube embed code
